Question:

In mounting a Roadmaster Tracker tow bar to the Roadmaster XL series bracket arms 1012-1, are quick disconnects absolutely necessary to easily without tools remove the tow bar from the towed vehicle? Could a person either remove the mounting hitch pins at the cross bar, leaving the cross bar on the vehicle, and or remove the bracket arms from the bracket receivers, by removing the mounting hitch pins that secures that portion of the system? It seems there are several options here for removing the tow bar which would not require the use of quick disconnects or tools, depending on a persons needs and particularly if a person wanted to make the tow bar foldable and easily stored. I would appreciate any further insight and recommendations that you might. Thanks!

If you want to easily hookup and disconnect the Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar, # RM-020, from Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, # 1012-1, then I strongly recommend using the quick disconnects. This is the easiest method of hooking up and an disconnecting.

It would seem easy enough to remove the pins holding the base plate draw bars or removing the pins for the tow bar arms, but those are points that will be subject to binding. After towing, it will not be very easy to remove either of those pins. It will also be tricky to align the draw bars or tow bar arms to hookup when you are ready to tow again. It is certainly possible to get by without using the quick disconnects, but they do offer the easiest method of hooking up and disconnecting when towing.
