Question:

The rear crossbar has been removed. Now we can’t get it back in. Any tips besides never removing it again?

The crossbar to tower connection for the Thule Xsporter Pro Adjustable Ladder Rack # TH500XTB is two bolts along with two custom-fit square nuts so if you're having issues the hardware is either too tight or you have some sort of obstruction in crossbar's track. I recommend cleaning out the track as best you can and then using a dry silicone spray like # RM-747 to lubricate the track. Try sliding the square nuts around to work the lube through the track. This should allow you to reconnect the rear crossbar. If you are having other issues or still can't get it to connect then let me know and we can troubleshoot further.
