Question:
I have a 2011 F-150 Ecoboost 3.5 that tows fine until the weather starts to heat up. Then its a different story. From reading online the solution is an oil cooler and these guys recommending them are the Mishomoto $900 oil cooler. Is there really that big of a difference between getting one of yours and the Mishmoto. I do see that have braided lines, but that is the least of my worries. Which one do you recommend? I tow maybe 1-2x per month in the summer for about 3-4hours 5000-8000lbs. Do I need an oil cooler with a fan? The mishmoto does not have that.

Typically a Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13503 is all you are going to need to help keep your transmission cool when towing. A cooler with fan like the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler # D13950 is typically a better option if you are only towing in areas where you constantly deal with stop and go traffic. I would not worry about having braided lines as even the factory hoses on your 2011 Ford F-150 are not braided.
You should also consider adding a Edge Gas Evolution CTS3 Performance Tuner # EP59YR. This will allow you change your power levels when towing and also features monitors which will let watch your transmission temperatures to help prevent damage to your transmission.
