Does trailer wiring harness have to be wired to the battery because I have LED lights?

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56093 has to be wired directly to the battery no matter what type of lights your Explorer or trailer has. This direct wire is what powers the converter box that controls the signal sent to the 4-way connector. The custom fit plugs that attach to your existing wiring harness only sends the signals to activate the lights.
