Question:

I was interested in the hitch receiver #C11126 for a 2004 mini cooper hard top. My question is, will I be able to install and use my rear reverse indicator light when I am not using an accessory installed into the hitch receiver?

Yes, you should be able to install and use a center light in your 2004 Mini Cooper rear bumper as long as the hitch is not being used. The instruction do specify that if trimming is required on the back of the bumper after installing the hitch, not to cut any piece used to hold the trim cover or light. Meaning that the cover or light can be reinstalled. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.

If you are going to use the hitch for a bike rack or cargo carrier Curt says that you also have to use a stabilization strap, # 18050, for any non-trailer loads. The straps takes some of the stress off of the hitch.

If you plan on doing some towing first check the owners manual for specific information on towing with the vehicle. For a ball mount use # C45519 with pin and clip # PC2. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. And for trailer wiring use # C59236.
