Question:
I installed a curt t 7 pin connector onto my 2020 F150. I followed the wiring diagram that was with the kit. After I got everything connected and working, I saw online there are really 3 other ways to wire the plug on the vehicle side. I am towing an RV. Using a trailer brakes. How do I know which way to wire the plug without damaging the trailers.

I believe you're referring to the following three 7-Way connector types:
- Traditional SAE
- RV Standard
- Heavy-Duty
While these all seem similar, there are a few differences that I'll point out below. Long story short though, you want to follow the RV Standard diagram I've attached.
The Traditional SAE and RV Standard wiring is actually the same pinout, the wiring colors are just different is all. Even with that being the case we always recommend making your connections per function and not per wire color. Vehicle and trailer manufacturers are notorious for grabbing random wire colors for the trailer plugs so it's always best to install by function.
The Heavy-Duty wiring diagram is something we only see for heavier trailers like dump trailers and such. This actually uses a different 7-Way connection with pins instead of blades like the previous 2 styles use.
I've attached diagrams of all 3 styles as well as a link to our wiring helpful article for you to reference.
