Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, but there are coolers that are recommended specific to mounting locations of your vehicle. This Derale Dual Pass Heat Sink Cooler # D13262, is intended to be used as a frame mount cooler. As long as you have enough space on the frame of your 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe, this cooler will work for you. Frame mount heat sink coolers are not the most efficient style of transmission cooler, but the trade off is the minimal space needed for mounting this cooler.

It is recommended to use the most efficient mounting location that is available. Typically, between the AC condenser core and the grille. If the ideal, and most efficient mounting location is not possible, then it is typically recommended that a larger transmission cooler be selected.

If you have space to mount a transmission cooler in the optimal position, my recommendation would be to use the Derale 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission cooler # D13503. To ease installation you may also want the Derale snap in Radiator Adapter # D13035, and the Universal Bendable Mounting Kit # D13002.
