Question:
I am looking to replace fenders on a McClain ATT-2452 trailer. Last week I was recommended the Tandem Axle Tear Trailer Fenders - Rounded Edges - Steel - 14inch to 15inch Wheels - Qty 2 Item # HP94VR. It says that this fender does not come with a step, but I would really like to have steps on the front and back of the fender. Would I be able to purchase steps separately and attach them to the trailer along with this fender? If so what steps do you recommend? Or is there a heavy duty fender that you recommend that comes with a step?

Expert Reply:
The Tandem Axle Teardrop Trailer Fenders part # HP94VR don't have built-in step at the front or rear that is correct. If you're looking for a step here, I recommend simply adding a frame mounted step like the HitchMate Boat Trailer Step part # HE4036 or CE Smith Galvanized Steel Step part # CE26212G-15284GA. These are both very cost effective options and easy to install. They also won't damage the fender if anything happens either. The best part of all is that you can position them exactly where you need them for the best access in and out of the boat.
