Why Are Colors on 7-Way Connectors Different Than Industry Standard Connectors?
Updated 03/07/2023 | Published 03/06/2023 >
Question:
Why are the wire colors not configured to the standard uses? i assume thats why at least one review said they had a hard time installing and had to take to a shop and they had a hard time also. does this affect the coverter parts like Item # 319-R7-52.

The trailer wiring code we mention on our wiring help article (attached) is just a typical wiring configuration and can vary, as we state and can be seen on the attached photo.
As long as your 7-Way pinout matches the photo I attached you'll be fine and the Trailer Connector Adapter # 319-R7-52 will operate just fine.
These colors are just the typical colors but they aren't required by law which is why you don't always have the colors matching - it's much more important to match per function.
