Can the Latch on the Valterra Replacemet Cam Lock Be Bent to Clear Weather-Stripping?
Updated 03/01/2023 | Published 02/28/2023 >
Question:
I found that the locking tab will not clear the weatherstripping in the compartment door when turning. Is the tab pliant enough to be bent outward about 1/8-inch to clear the weatherstripping? Would a better approach be to use spacers if there are enough threads on the screw to accommodate them? Many thanks. You guys are great.

Since you're only trying to bed the latch # A522VP 1/8" to clear the weather-stripping you shouldn't have any issues as it isn't that much of a bend.
While the metal is pliable to be bent, the easiest option would be to use a spacer to give you the appropriate spacing.
I recommend just stacking 3/4" washers to get the desired 1/8" spacing.
