Does Advent ACRG15 Thermostat Use the Same Wiring From Advent ACTH11 Thermostat

Updated 06/30/2025 | Published 01/25/2023

Question:

I am being told that the Advent ACRG15 is the replacement option for my original Advent ACTH11 thermostat which is no longer working. Can you confirm that the ACRG15 will operate my Advent AC as well as my propane furnace? My second question is that there are eight wires going to the ACTH11 thermostat, but the ACRG15 looks to only have four terminals coming from it. Is there a wiring diagram included or available that shows how to convert from the eight wires to the four terminals?

Yes, the Air Distribution Box w/ Wall-Mounted Thermostat for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners # ACRG15 is what you need for your application. This includes a new thermostat as well.

According to my research all of the wiring for your current thermostat goes directly to the relay box. Since this unit comes with a new relay box that only requires the 4 wires you won't be using your old wiring.

Attached is a wiring diagram another one of our experts has for the # ACRG15 that you can use for your installation. I'm also linking a review video for you to check out.

I have a 2015 Aspen Trail camper. I am replacing the ACTH11 with the ACRG15 I just purchased at etrailer. Will I need any special equipment to replace the ACTH 11? Will I need additional wiring to replace the ACTH11? And the relay that came with it, where does that get attached to? I do not see that in the diagram. The directions are not step by step, I see the diagram but it is hard to read.

@Jeff The relay box is installed above the distribution up in the ceiling. I don't think any special tools will be needed to accomplish this, and you should be able to repurpose your old wiring, unless you're planning on replacing it with new wire. I'll also say that if you haven't done this type of work before, it might be best to have a professional or an experienced friend to help you out.
