Question:

I have a 2016 GMC Yukon and ordered a wiring kit BLU79FR and it says its for a jeep. Can you help me find out if this is for a GMC. I need it before this weekend as we are going on a trip.

The Blue Ox Tow Bar Wiring Kit # BLU79FR is for 2018-2023 JL Jeep Wranglers. Blue Ox does not have an EZ-Light kit available for a 2016 GMC Yukon, so the only plug-in option is going to be the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # HM56114.

That being said, plug-in tow bar wiring kits constantly have issues or quit working after a year so I always recommend going with a splice-in option. For your Yukon I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This will require you to cut into your tail light wiring, but we typically see very few issues with splice-in style harnesses unless it was installed incorrectly. If there ever was an issue each of the components with this harness can be replaced instead of having to rip out the whole harness like you would with a plug-in style.
