Updated 01/17/2023 | Published 01/16/2023 >
Question:
I have a 14ft cargo trailer that I use for auto detailing. I have drum brakes on it and it constantly loosens up on the springs and after retightening it loosens up quickly again. Just wondering what the best route would be to convert it. Either stick with a better electric drum system, hydraulic drum, or the electric disc brake conversion i know on the hydraulic i have to convert the front tongue thanns again

There are a couple of things I recommend you check for first before you decide on switching your whole setup first. What I recommend you do is check for a broken spring, a faulty adjuster screw, or even possibly a pinched wire.
If any of these items are damaged, this may be causing your brakes to loosen. If not, and you're wanting to still change your setup, then I recommend converting your brakes with an electric over hydraulic disc brake kit.
In order to determine which disc brake kit, like the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR712 will work for you, I will need a bit more information.
I am going to need to know your braking mounting flange, axle capacity, and your hub's wheel bolt pattern.
For instance, the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR712 will work with 7K axles with 16" and larger wheels, and a 5-bolt brake mounting flange.
If you're able to let me know what you need, I'd be happy to help you.
