According to the owners manual for your 2007 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0 2 wheel drive you can flat tow your Ranger. If you have a manual transmission you are able to tow an unlimited distance but Ford recommends a maximum speed limit of 55mph. If you have an automatic transmission you are limited to 35mph and a maximum distance of 50 miles. To increase the distance and towing speed you are able to remove the driveshaft but Ford recommends having this done at a dealer since transmission fluid could leak out of the transmission if not done properly.

You will need a Base Plate # 477-5 for the front of your Ranger. This will require you to use a Quick Disconnect Crossbar # 910021-00 to connect to a Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676. You may also need a High-Low adapter like the 4" # RM-048-4 to level the tow bars. You want the tow bars to be within 3" of level between your motorhome and the front of your Ranger. We have measure the height of the base plate connection to be 20" on a Ranger with 225/70R15 tires. Your height may vary slightly based on the condition of the suspension and your tire size.

The RoadMaster Nighthawk All Terrain Towing Combo Kit # RM-9284-2 will provide you with a cover for the bars, storage bag, lube, locking pins and the wiring needed to operate the tail lights on your Ranger from your tow vehicle. You will also need a Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to allow your Ranger's battery to charge while being towed.

The Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR will provide you with a supplemental braking system that is required. This simply gets placed in front of your seat and plugs into you 12 volt outlet. It has a remote screen you can place in your tow vehicle allowing you to activate the brakes in an emergency and monitor the braking system while you drive.
