Could Aluminum Roof Mounted Cargo Basket part # 288-09200 be Narrowed

Question:

Im looking for a solution to a basket in the rear of a Jeep JL 2 door. Looking at the last picture of this basket exploded view could I cut a section out of the basket to narrow the whole thing up by about 8? It looks symmetrical so if all the pieces were narrowed the same amount, would it still go together? Or are the ends threaded so if I cut the ends narrower then I would lose the ability to screw the basket together?

If you were smart about it you could narrow the Aluminum Roof Mounted Cargo Basket part # 288-09200 that you referenced. Like you noticed the sections are symmetrical so it would work relatively easily.
