According to my Curt Manufacturing representative, their Class I receiver part # C11498 is a fit for all models of the 2006 BMW 5 Series Sedans, including the M5.
If you are planning on using the rack for a hitch mounted accessory like a bike rack, be aware that Curt warranty requirements state that a stabilizing strap like part # 18050 must be used for all non-trailer loads.
