Replacement 7-Way Recommendation for 2016 Ford F-150 with Curt Echo Brake Controller

Question:
I had a contact blade fall out of a 7 way which was installed by a 3rd party onto my 2016 Ford F150 XL. I used it with a Curt Bluetooth Echo brake controler which came with my 2020 Intech Sol 16foot trailer. All was going well for a year, then when removing my Curt Echo from the 7way on my hitch, a blade came out of the 7way and was stuck in my Curt Echo. I pulled it out with plyers, would not come out of the Curt by hand and pushed it back into the 7 way on the truck hitch. Worked fine on the way out last week for a week in Vegas. On Return, now I get the RED warning on my Curt Echo App saying the Trailer has disconnected from the tow vehicle. I look back...nope! Still there, if I press the brakes gently 2 times, the Curt Reconnects and then Ill get some trailer brake indicator coming on on the app. Next time I hit a bump, or press brake again, Red Working sign again. It always goes away quickly, and usually I get brakes again,...usually. Sometimes no. Thinking of replacing the 7 way first, because of the blade problem. Then, if I still get the Red Warning on the Curt App, Ill buy a brand new Curt Bluetooth Echo brake controller from you. But, is HM47210 the right way to go? splice the pigtail lines into the exisiting lines coming at the exisiting 7 way?

The solution is definitely to get a new 7-way which the part # HM47210 will work great for your 2016 Ford F-150. The round socket on the back of the connector will plug right into the matching connector that your truck has. The blade that has fallen out is the 12 volt accessory circuit pin and it is what the controller needs for power. Right now it's making an intermittent and unreliable connection which is why it's not always working. This can be really dangerous as it might not be on when you need it in an emergency so replacement is your best option.
