Which Wheels Should a Pair of Snow Chains Go on a 2013 Subaru Outback
Updated 12/04/2013 | Published 12/03/2013 >
Question:
So I ordered the Thule CG9, but only 1 pair for the front. Should I really only put them on the front or would it be better to have a set on both front and rear? Thanks

If only one pair of snow chains is to be used on a vehicle you want to put them on the drive axle. Since your vehicle is all-wheel drive that makes it a little bit more interesting. We recommend chaining up the front wheels because there is more weight there for traction, the front wheels do more of the braking, all of the steering and have more power sent to them.
You should consult your owners manual before you use the chains on your 2013 Subaru Outback as there are sometimes restrictions on snow chain use.
I attached a couple FAQ articles on snow chains for you to check out also.
