Correct 4-Way Wiring Harness for 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:
Went to install the Tekonsha 118354 on the driver side of my 97 Grand Cherokee Laredo Jeep, took the complete side panel off and pulled the two black connectors apart and went to connect the 2 connectors on the new part and found out they did not match up. I plan to send the new part back and obtain the correct one. Im a little confused now because I was shown by one of the videos it was supposed to go behind the spare tire a the 2 connects. Now Im seeing some of the other connectors showing they hook them up near the rear light to the gray connector that would be taken apart and the new connectors attached to them. Then I noticed that some of the new ones are hooked to the passenger side. I guess what Im asking is what the correct wires is needed to fit my 97 Grand Cherokee Laredo Jeep. When I resend the one, I bought and mail it today, I would like to order the correct one that will fit correctly. Hope I dont have you confused with all of this, but I really appreciate your help, thanks.

The reason the # 118354 did not fit is because it is designed for the 1997-2001 Jeep Cherokee. The correct wiring harness for your 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee will depend on whether or not you have the factory tow package.
If you have the factory tow package, I recommend the Curt # C55260. If you do not have the factory tow package, then you want the # 118349 instead. These are the most reliable options for your Grand Cherokee with/without the tow package.
I have attached some review videos along with the written instructions for your reference.
