It sounds like you're looking for the trailer hitch with the most ground clearance for a 2009 Subaru Outback and if that's the case you'd be looking at the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12284 or Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 36334. These hitches both have the smaller 1-1/4" opening so they won't hang down below the bumper near as much when compared to the larger 2" opening options. The Curt and Draw-Tite are both pretty similar options so I recommend whichever is more cost effective at the time.
