Can a Powered Tailgate Lock be Added to a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado without a Locking Tailgate

Question:
I do not have a locking tail gate on my truck now, and Im just wondering if this locks without the OEM lock, or of this will provide a power locking mechanism even on trucks WITHOUT an OEM lock.

Pop and Lock tailgate lock # PAL8120Q prevents the handle for unlatching the tailgate when locked so you do not have to already have a locking tailgate to use this lock. But if the truck does not have power locks then you would also need a switch kit, # PAL9520.
