Do Thule Keys Work With Nashbar Bike Racks?

Question:

I am looking for a replacement key for a Nashbar bike rack. I have seen that the keys they used are potentially Thule. I am trying to attach a photo of the key number Y049 to see if it is similar to the Thule replacement you sell with that number, but do not seem able to do so. The key is vey simple with two small notches on both sides, one at the top and one about half-way down. Is it possible the Thule key will work? Thanks

While we don't carry Nashbar products I was able to get in contact with them and they explained to me that their bike racks do not use Thule keys, they use keys made by a company named Transit.

they also went onto explain that they keys/lock cores made by Thule like # THKEYY049 appear to be the same and could possibly work, but they are not able to confirm or deny if they will work or not.

What you could do is replace your current lock core with a Thule key and lock core like the:

-Replacement Lock Cylinder and Premium Key for Thule One-Key Systems # TH45DD.

If you decided to replace your lock core, you'd have to have a locksmith unlock and remove the core, or you could drill out the old core.
