I checked with Curt and the correct hitch for your 2001 Ford Explorer Sport is item # C13033. This hitch is confirmed to fit the Sport base model. It is the only hitch they have listed for your vehicle.
To add a wiring harness you will want the item # C59496. This is a universal wiring kit that you will need to splice into your existing wires. There are not custom fit kits for your vehicle.
To round out your towing setup I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" ball and a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop. It also includes a hitch pin and clip, hitch receiver lock with keys, hitch cover, and a storage case.
