Question:

My current hitch system has load distributing bars that attach to the tongue frame with pull up chains and has an anti-sway brake bar that mounts to the right side of tongue frame. The sway bar is very helpful in high cross winds. Would the built in sway control of this unit provide the same protection?

Yes, the Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution w Sway Control # RE44FR will help to keep your trailer from swaying just like your current friction sway control bar. The brackets on either side provide two points of friction sway control so it should be better.

From what you described, it sounds like you have something similar to the Curt # 17200. If that is the case, the # RE44FR has mounting points for the bar so you could actually add this in addition to the weight distribution hitch to help keep you extra steady while towing.
