Question:

Hi. I have a mastercraft ski boat 20’ on a trailer. The trailer has a low cross bar at the back to protect the rudder and propeller. When I reverse my trailer into driveway these is 1 section of the driveway that is a slight incline and the cross bar drags on the concrete for about 3 feet. Then it’s ok. If I stop the tow right at the point it drags and put 2”x 10” x 6 feet immediately behind the trailer main wheels then as I reverse, the trailer climbs the 2” wood and it therefore raises the cross bar to clear the concrete ramp . I see you have wheels for the cross bar. I don’t want to drill or weld , I’d rather clamp around the cross bar which is 1” high and 3” deep. I’d like the smallest diameter wheel , boat and trailer is about 4000 lbs. what do you recommend

The smallest diameter wheel we have that is going to have a clamp on application is the Ultra-Fab Hitch Mounted Steel Rollers for RVs w/ 3" Hitch Tubing item # UF48-979018. These are 3" x 3" U-bolts that clamp a 3" diameter wheel onto your trailer. If this doesn't work for you and you are set against having the Ultra-Fab Steel Jumbo Roller item # UF48-979023 welded to your crossbar, then I recommend getting a slightly taller tire. If you want to explore this option more, email me back with your tire size and your wheels lug pattern and I will get you some options for adding a slightly taller wheel. One of the major concerns here would be clearance between your current tires and fenders so if you have fenders you would want to measure the gap between the top of your tire and the bottom of your fender.
