For a great option for your 285/70/R17 Cooper mud tires, I recommend the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains for Wide Base Tires # TC3829. These chains are on-road and off-road compatible and come with V-bar links for superior traction in deep snow/ice. The low-carbon steel provides you with a strong construction.
In order to make sure you have enough wheel well clearance on your vehicle to use these 7mm thick chains, I recommend measuring the clearance between your tires and components in your wheel wells. I went ahead and attached a diagram that shows you how to make this measurement. Also, we strongly recommend consulting with your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure you follow all manufacturer guidelines for using chains.
To make the installation process much easier, I always recommend the Titan Chain Multi-Arm Rubber Tire Chain Adjuster for Light Trucks # TCMA2. With these adjusters, you do not have to go through the headache of having to tighten the chains after each trip.
