Adjustable Height Ladder Rack for 2018 Chevy Colorado to Carry Lumber Above Cab

Updated 06/27/2022 | Published 06/25/2022

Question:

Hi, Im comparing between the Thule trac one ladder rack TH27000XTB and the Thule Overland xsporter. The rack will go on my 2018 Chevy Colorado, 5.5foot bed. I dont plan to use the rack all the time and I wonder is either rack easier than the other to get on/off the truck bed, or is the attachment the same? I like the lower profile of the xsporter but carrying long pieces of lumber or a kayak would be hard. If the TracOne is easy to take off and replace it may be the way to go. Are both racks mounted to the Colorado rails in the same places? Are there different locations on the truck rails they can be mounted front to back so that they are closer/further apart? Thanks!

The install and removal of the Thule Xsporter Pro Mid part # TH34RR and the TracRac TracONE part # TH27000XT are going to be about the same in terms of time required and effort. If the plan is to carry lumber or a kayak the TracONE is the way to go though it's only option you mentioned that would have uprights high enough for the lumber to fit above the cab.

We do have an Xsporter part # TH500XTB which is adjustable in height that can be set at a height that would carry lumber above the cab and is about the same in terms of install time/difficulty.
