Question:
I have a flat bed trailer that I am working on. It was built in the mid 80s and is a 3000 lb trailer I use to move cars and equipment. Dual axles with 3 round axle and s down on the ends. I want to move the spring assemblys forward to take off some of the tongue weight. I will need new weld on spring hangers for the re-location forward. Presently the trailer spring hangers are Front- 1 5/8 down to bolt center and spring is 1 3/4 wide Middle is 3 3/8 down to bolt center Rear is 1 1/4 down to bolt center Can you recommend a kit that I can use to move these? Please advise,

Expert Reply:
Moving your axles forward will lessen the tongue weight of your trailer. It will also affect the location of the fenders on your trailer. I do not have a matching axle hanger kit with the measurements you provided. I do have something similar. The Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs - 2-1/2" Front/Rear, 4-1/2" Center, part # APT8, is the closest in size hanger kit we offer for a tandem-axle. The front and rear hangers heights are the same, 2-1/2". The center hangers measure 4-1/2". You want your trailer's tongue weight to be between 10%-15% of your trailers maximum gross trailer weight.
I have also included a weblink to our article explaining where to position your trailer's axles, a video review link, and a product description link below.
