To replace the door latch on your 1979 Airstream you will want to use the Global Link RV Entry Door Locking Latch Kit with Keyed Alike Option - Polished Chrome item # 295-000002. The rubberized foam gasket provides a tight seal against your door. Its dimensions are 3.47" wide x 4.28" tall. It will fit doors that are 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" thick and it installs in latch cutouts that are 2-1/2" wide x 3-1/2" tall to 3" wide x 4" tall.
