Wondering what the measurement is for a fifth wheel rail on a 17 2500 ram long bed truck

For your 2017 Ram 2500, I recommend the B&W Custom Installation Kit, # BWRVK2602. This custom-fit bracket kit lets you mount to existing holes in your vehicle's frame to minimize drilling and measuring. This will reduce installation time and also avoids known obstacles along your truck's frame. Please note the linked installation video below.

The overall length 5th wheel rails is different from manufacturer to manufacturer and specific part number. There is not a universal length. What is standard though, is the pattern on the rails. While there are exceptions, most all base rails manufactured in recent years are made to what is now referred to as Industry Standard Rail (ISR) pattern. These are mounted to the tow vehicle with a 22" on-center spread between the two mounted rails and each has a specific pattern for the mounting slots at about 5", 10-3/8" and 14-1/2" on either side of the rail center line. The slots where the 5th wheel hitch locks into are +/- a slight tolerance of 1/2" by 1-1/4".
