How to Tell if 50 Inch Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars Will Fit a 2018 Toyota Prius Prime

Question:

Hello, Your website recommends 53 inch for the Thule Wingbar Evo for the 2018 Prius Prime. Would a 50 inch bar fit instead? I note that the wingbar Edge models that fit are 104 and 95 cm for the front and back. So something seems off here. Thank you

The listings that we post for vehicles come directly from Thule unless we are able to install the roof rack on our own and determine different crossbar sizes will fit. Thule lists the 53" bars for your 2018 Toyota Prius Prime and part of the reason the crossbars are that much shorter has to do with the construction of the legs and that the crossbar ends inside the legs for the WingBar Edge while the crossbar sits on and extends out from the legs for the WingBar Evo. There is a limited amount of space for the legs to connect to on the underside of the WingBar Evo which is why there is typically only 1 size listed.

If you can measure the distance between the far edges of those ridges with the rubber strip on the roof of your Prius Prime and those measure less than 50" then you can use the shorter crossbars, otherwise you need to stick with the 53" bars for everything to fit correctly:

WingBar Evo Crossbars - 53" # TH711420 or 50" # TH711320 (provided your measurement works out)

Lock Core Kit - # TH450400 (optional)
