Troubleshooting No 12V Power on a Factory 7-Way Plug on a 2004 Range Rover

Updated 05/10/2022 | Published 05/07/2022

Question:

If I run a new wire, do I run it directly from the black charge line wire from the tow socket to the red positive wire that is attached to rear trunk fuse box in the 04 Range Rover and just add the 40 amp circuit breaker in between? Thank you in advance for your help. I wasn’t able to thank the last person that helped me.

Sorry to hear about your issue!

If you already checked your fuses, there are a few other things to look for. First off, you need to check to make sure there is no corrosion build up in any location on the pins or the inside of the plug. If those are clean, the next step is to make sure to check your ground connections. They need to be attached to a clean metal surface in order to function properly. If that still doesn't work, then you will want to run a new wire using # 10-1-1 and circuit breaker # 9510 to provide you with the power source you need and the end of your vehicle.

All is well because I'm back again to answer this one! Thanks for the kind words. For running the new wire, you will not use any of the wiring you installed previously. You also don't need to route it into any fuse box or converter box that you currently have. Starting from the front of the vehicle, you will have the wire running from the position terminal of the battery with the circuit breaker # 9510. From there, you simply run the wire all the way back to your 7-way plug. When you are there, you simply wire that end to the 1 o'clock position on the plug. At the end of this process, you have power!
