Crossbars and Pioneer Platform Recommendation for a 2017 Grand Cherokee with Black/Chrome Flush Rail

Question:

Looking to install the pioneer platform on my JGC with chrome and black flush rails. I am looking at the Rhino-Rack RVP crossbars. I looked at the small universal platform but it looks too small. I would like something a little wider but not too long since I have a panoramic sunroof. Any suggestions?

While we do have a roof rack 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee that gives you a lot of height, the Rhino-Rack RVP Roof Rack for Fixed Mounting Points # RRRVP27 only provides you with 1-3/4" of height. With that height and accommodating the clamps of a Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform, you won't have enough space to open your panoramic sunroof.

Although, a great alternative is to use the following roof rack:

- Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 49" # RRVA126B-2
- RCL Legs for Rhino-Rack Crossbars and Pioneer Platforms - Fixed Mounting Points # RRRCL4
- Custom RCP Fit Kit for 4 Rhino-Rack RC and RV Series Roof Rack Legs - Fixed Mounting Points # RRRCP27-BK

With this setup, you have about 3 inches of height from the roof to the bottom of the crossbar. In order to know if the roof rack allows you to open your panoramic sunroof, I recommend opening your sunroof and measuring the highest point. As long as that point falls under 3 inches, you are good to go!

As far as the platform, Rhino-Rack only offers 2 Pioneer Platforms that can attach directly to crossbars. There are the 58" Long x 47" Wide # RR42115BF and the 48" Long x 38" Wide # RR42114BF. Both of these platforms are compatible with the Vortex Aero Crossbars.
