Question:
Hello, I am in need of a trailer hitch for a 2008 MKZ. I also need a. Enclosed cargo trailer to haul tools for work. The hitch I need is 1 1/4 but the cargo trailer is 2. Is there an adapter for the trailer hitch to convert to 2 or maybe a cargo trailer that fits the hitch? I appreciate any information, thanks.

To be able to use the 23x47 Carpod Walled Cargo Carrier w/ Lid # M2205-2201 with your 2008 Lincoln MKZ, you'll first need a trailer hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11329.
This trailer hitch is a class I trailer hitch with a maximum towing capacity of 2,000lbs, and has a maximum tongue weight capacity of 200lbs.
Since # M2205-2201 is designed to work in 2" x 2" trailer hitch receivers, you'll need to use the Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # HTAD. This will turn your class I 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" trailer hitch to a 2" x 2" receiver.
However, when you use any hitch adapter like # HTAD you'll consequently reduce your hitches capacity by 50 percent.
I also recommend checking your owners manual for your 2008 Lincoln MKZ for your maximum towing capacity, and compare that number to the maximum capacity of the hitch, and use the lowest rating between the two to ensure you don't overload your vehicle.
