Troubleshooting Turn Signals and Brake Lights Not Working With Running Lights On

Question:
With tail lights off the turn signals and brake lights work. If the tail lights are on the other functions quit working

Based on what you are describing it sounds like you have an insufficient ground. Make sure your ground connection is secure on a clean, bare-metal surface. This could be on the vehicle side or the trailer side so I would make sure to check ground connections on both.
