Troubleshooting Replacement Tail Light Not Lighting Up on Boat Trailer
Updated 03/31/2022 | Published 03/30/2022 >
Question:
Currently have Optronics lights on my boat trailer and my passenger tail light went out. Bought a whole replacement tail light and wired it in but the running light, breaks and turn signal does not work to just that light. however when I lock my truck it lights up very briefly. All other lights on the trailer including passenger side amber light seems to be working correctly. Any idea what issue could be? Note: the one I received did have a bulb and the previous identical tail light was an LED.

If you are saying you bought an incandescent replacement and all of your other lights are LED you will want to use an LED to match the other lights. Depending on the type of bulb you may be able to just swap the bulb with one like the # ARC63FR. You would want to match the bulb number and you also want the color to match the color of your lens.
The other thing I would check is the ground connection and the wires running to that light. A poor ground connection could be the cause or possibly a short. Make sure the ground is secure on a clean, bare metal surface.
