How easy is it to convert a Kuat NV 2 or NV 2 base between a two bike and 4 bike setup? I want to be able to go between the two configurations

Adding or removing the 2-Bike Add-On # BA02B for the Kuat NV 2.0 Base Bike Rack # BA22B really isn't too difficult - it's almost like installing it into anther hitch to be honest.
Attached is a review video where we go over a few things for the add-on section as well as what it looks like to install the part (jump to minute mark 2:40). Basically you'll remove the end cap on the Base, insert the Add-On, tighten up the Allen bolts, and then place the cap on the end of the Add-On.

This only applies if a shop assembles it for you. If you have the attachment shipped direct to you, it likely will not come preassembled. In this case it is moderately difficult to install. The reason for this is that each "arm" of the attachment consists of two pieces which must each be bolted onto the attachment's middle beam. And you've got to tighten those bolts good and tight. Once it's assembled, it becomes a bear to use. Don't get me wrong, as a bike rack, it works very well. But the difficult part comes at mounting the rack with extension to your vehicle. That's because it's rather heavy at ~110 lbs. And you really can't feasibly mount the rack first and then the extension. That's because the extension attaches to the rack by way of two bolts which must be tightened extremely tight. Maybe you can do this with help from another person to hold it up while you screw in the bolts, but if you already have two people, you might as well just attach the extension and then mount it. Solo mounting this thing is a chore because of how difficult it is to orient the mounting arm with the extension attached (which is only a problem because of the weight). Things to be aware of. The weight may bother some people more or less.
