Question:

I have a 2011 Ram 3500 Megacab. I like the idea of installing just the rhino backbone mounting system bars so that I have a strong attachment to the truck. Then I would like to use my Yakima towers to connect to the backbone system. I have so much yakima stuff. Yakima box, bike holders, kayak, and paddle board mounts all yakima for the roof.

The Yakima towers will not connect to the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Rack with Backbone Mounting System - 60" Long x 56" Wide, part # JB0702, on your 2011 Ram 3500. You can attach Rhino-Rack Legs and and Vortex Aero Crossbars to the Backbone Mounting System. This rack will consist of the following items:

Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 59" Long - Qty 3, part # RRVA150B-3
Rhino-Rack Backbone Mounting System for Pioneer Platform, part # RRRR1B1
Rhino-Rack Quick Mount Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars - RTC and RT Roof Rack Tracks - Qty 6, part # RRRLT600-3

This setup will have a weight limit of 165 lbs. With this rack installed you will be able to attach your Yakima accessories to the Rhino-Rack crossbars.
