Recommended Holding Tank Sensor Monitor For An RV

Question:

Re Rhino Blaster Pro: We do not have a straight shot on our black water line. Because of the turns, the spray will likely not get the line entirely clean. We can probably fill the black water tank, but is there a danger in it being overfilled? How do you prevent this?

It definitely is a guessing game when it comes to filling your holding tanks. For a much more accurate reading of the water level in your black tank, as well as your fresh and gray, you can install the SeeLeveL RV Holding Tank Monitor # SE44VR. These strips simply stick onto the outside of of your holding tanks and have sensors every inch instead of just the old 1/3, 2/3, 3/3 type sensors that manufacturers install in their RV's. Because there's more sensors on these strips the reading will more accurately display the percentage of your tank's fullness.

I actually just installed this yesterday on another employee's 5th wheel and it could not have been a more simple process. The sensor strips come with a sticky backing and just stick to the outside of your tanks. They have a black wire, which I grounded to the frame with a ring terminal and a blue wire, which I spliced into the existing wire that was already run for the old sensors.

If you don't have sensors already then you'll simply need to run a wire from where ever you plan on mounting the monitor to the sensor strips and splice them in along the way in series.

The strips can be cut down between the sensors to fit the size of your tank. The "senders", which are the tabs at the top, can be cut in specific ways listed in the manual to let the monitor know what tank the particular sensor is on or whether it's a top or bottom tank if you have a larger tank and need to use two sensor strips.

The kits come with different monitors depending on your setup, but I've attached the # SE44VR as an example. The # SE44VR is designed for RV's with a fresh, gray, black tank along with switch for a water pump. If you don't have a water pump or want the monitor that also has an LP monitor or any other kind of combination you can click the link below which will take to our selection of SeeLeveL systems.

Once the sensors are in place you can easily gauge how full your black tank is when filling it up to clean it out, or for just your normal RVing application.
