How Much Does the Gen-Y and Reese Goose Box Weigh?

Question:

Which of these goose box is the lightest, would purchase the lighter one to maximize my trucks payload capacity. Gen-Y GH-8055AL versus Reese 94716 goose box And do i need the shim plates for either one. I have included a picture of my pin box model which is on the OEM of a Keystone Fuzion 379 witch as a hitch weigh of 3155 lbs Thanks!

Your picture didn't come through so I can't tell you if you need shim plates but I can confirm that both the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY58FR and the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter item # RP89FR fit the 1621 pinbox. So if your Keystone Fuzion 379 has a 1621 pinbox either of them will work.

The Gen-Y item # GY58FR weighs 162 lbs.

The Reese Goose Box item # RP85FR weighs 170 lbs.

I recommend going with the Reese over the Gen-Y if your Keystone still has a chassis warranty. The Reese goose box is the only one that doesn't void that warranty.

Neither of these goose boxes come with safety chains so don't forget the Safety Chain Kit # GY49GR.
