Question:
It looks like all I have is a top gutter-like flushed rail which does from front to back on both sides. I have no idea where to start. Are there adapters to install first? Ty.

To add a roof rack to your 2011 BMW X3 with flush mounted rails you just need a couple parts, which are the feet that attach to the rails, and the crossbars. The best option for this is a roof rack from Rhino-Rack, and the correct fit for your X3 is the following:
- Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA126B-2
- Rhino-Rack SRB Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars - Flush Factory Side Rails # RRSX026
The reason I like Rhino-Rack the best is because it is the best value for a roof rack; the quality is the same (or higher) than similar brands, but at a better price point. What you get with Rhino-Rack is a strong, quiet roof rack without having to pay to have a certain brand name on the crossbars.
