Can The Anderson 175 Amp Disconnects In Kit BDW20207, Handle The Power Of A Bulldog Winch
Updated 02/23/2022 | Published 02/19/2022 >
Question:
Most larger 9,000 - 12,000 lb winches can draw 400+ amps under load. How is it that the Anderson connectors in these kits can carry that load - pretty sure these are Anderson 175 amp disconnects?

I spoke to someone at Bulldog Winch and they said the reason the Anderson 175 amp disconnects can work in the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit, part # BDW20207, is because a winch is used intermittently. He said while the winch can draw up to 400 amps, on average you will only draw around 200 amps. He did acknowledge if you used your winch at full power for an extended period of time, the disconnects would be an issue. But most people will not use their winch in this manner.
I have included a product description link and a video installation of his kit on a 2004 Ford F-250 below.
