When you say loosen the wires at the base, do you mean disconnect the wires?

When replacing the the globe # 277-000431 on the Gustafson RV LED Pendant Light # 277-000422 you'll just need to loosen the nut (pictured below) to pull the wires and stem through the globe. If the light is currently wired up you would need to disconnect the wires to be able to pull it down and replace the globe.
