Question:

I am getting a new car soon, and want to use it with a Hullavator. What would be the quietest set up that youd recommend for me? I will also need cross bars, so either Yakima or Thule bars so long as they work with the Hullavator are options.

My roof rack recommendation for you will consist of a Yakima roof rack and the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier and Lift Assist with Tie-Downs - Side Loading, part # TH898. The Hullavator will not work unless there is between 4" and 8" of crossbar extension beyond the towers/feet. Yakima roof racks are easier to setup with that extension. Your Yakima roof rack will consist of the following items:

Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders - Qty 4, part # TH450400

This roof rack has a weight limit of 165 lbs. The Yakima CoreBar Crossbars are elliptical in shape, so they will help reduce wind noise AND aid in fuel efficiency. I have included the Yakima Same Key System Lock Cores so you can secure your roof rack to your vehicle. Once this is in place, you can install the Thule Hullavator.
