Can Transfer Switch be Added Between Two Outlets on RV
Published 02/04/2022 >
Question:
I would like to install another power receptacle on the side of my Montana High Country 5th Wheel trailer. I would like to keep the existing receptacle at the back of the trailer as well. I was wondering if I could install an automatic transfer switch in between the existing input cable and a new cable input from the side of the trailer and then to the Electrical Panel in the trailer. This way I could plug into the one that is more appropriate for a camping site and not worry if there would be a hazard at the other receptacle if someone lifted the cover and touched the pins while the other one was connected.

Helpful Expert Reply:
You certainly could install a transfer switch between the two outlets that you plan to have on your RV and the part # F50ATS would work well as a 50 amp transfer switch.
