Is The Curt PowerRide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Compatible With Short Bed Trucks

Question:

I am interested in your Curt Power ride 5th wheel trailer hitch for Chevy towing prep package. Item #C36WR, when I look at the specs, it says for a 8 long bed, will this work for a 6 short bed truck as well, or do you have one similar for a short bed truck?

The reason the Curt PowerRide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # C36WR is listed as being compatible with only 8 foot bed lengths is because of turning clearance issues. A six foot bed typically requires a sliding hitch and a five foot bed requires a fixed hitch and rotating pin box to prevent the nose of the fifth wheel from coming into contact with the cab of the truck.

To increase your turning clearance with your 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 you can replace the pin box on your fifth wheel with a rotating pin box. Typically there is a tag on the front or side of the pin box that either states it's bolt pattern or has serial numbers which we can use to cross reference the bolt pattern. If the tag isn't there then we have a guide that will walk you through measuring the pin box to find the bolt pattern, which I've attached below.

Once the bolt pattern is determined we can find the corresponding rotating pin box.
