Question:
I have a 26foot fifth wheel trailer with a bent rear axle. 3500# My question is should you mix axle brands? Example a Lippert axle in front and a Dexter for rear as long as all dimensions and capacities are the same. Also axles are under leaf springs, overslung? can I weld spring seats to top of underslung axle to use it below spring? Thanks for your time.

Expert Reply:
Yes, you can mix axle brands. The Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 95" Long - 3,500 lbs you were looking at would work just fine with a Lippert axle item # 7359765. No, you wouldn't want to weld spring seats to the top of an underslung axle. You will want to use a flip kit like the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit item # K71-384-00.
