Front Mount Hitch for a 2018 GMC Sierra 2500

Updated 04/14/2025 | Published 01/22/2022

Question:

Just want to know if this hidden hitch would fit on my 2018 gmc denali 2500hd? If it doesnt then is there a model of hitch that is hidden either behind the license plate or just under it. I have removed the front plastic air dam for more clearance while off road and cant seem to find the right hitch that tucks up to the bumper or behind the plate. Thanks for the help

I have a solution for you but the EcoHitch Invisi Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver item # 306-X7906 you referenced will not fit your 2018 GMC Sierra 2500. The front hitch you will need for your truck is the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver item # C31071. This hitch mounts just below your Sierra's front license plate there aren't any for your truck that mount behind it. I have attached a couple of installation videos and linked a picture so you can see what the final product looks like once installed.

The Curt front hitch for the 2017 GMC Denali HD when mounted is too low only giving you 8" of ground clearance before loading my 4500lb camper. You list one for the Sierra SLT that comes out in the tag location. What is the reason for not being able to use it on a Denali vs SLT? I'm assuming the chrome tag cover, am I correct? If that's the only reason I'd just leave it off.

@Dale The Draw-Tite Hitch item # 65078 isn't listed as fitting the Denali model of the 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 because of excessive trimming required to the front fascia. I tried to determine exactly how much fascia trimming is needed to see if it could be done with enough modification but I didn't find anything specific because the hitch is listed as not fitting. You are correct the receiver tube comes out from behind your front license plate. The cut out on the non-Denali models needs to be 3-1/4" by 3-1/4" square and the bottom of the cut out is 3-5/8" from the ground. From what I can see there isn't much difference in the outside fascia in that area on the Denali's so I'm guessing there's something behind it that I can't see. I recommended taking a look at your truck and see what it all is back there. Although the install details do say the issue is with fascia trimming it is possible there's more to it than that and there's electrical or something mechanical on the Denali that interferes. I've linked a video of the Draw-Tite Hitch item # 65078 being installed. That may help you see the location so you compare it to your truck.

@JerredH thanks for your reply. After comparing the video you spoke of installing on a non Denali 2500 I can only imagine everything is the same behind the tag area on the 2 trucks other than tbe Denali has a chrome plated plastic cover over the tag cover. I'll try to find a post elsewhere where someone did the install on a Denali. If not I'll probably be the guinea pig lol & try it since they're marked down right now. The one I have, the Curt, I'm afraid of using as I'd be afraid I'd hit a parking curb & bend something lol. Thanks for your reaearch

@DaleH Makes complete sense to me. The only thing really different behind the front end is going to be on the diesel models. If you do end up being a guinea pig do you mind emailing me the pictures? [email protected]
