Recommended Replacement Tire For An H78-15 LT Tire On A Single Axle Landscaping Trailer
Updated 01/10/2022 | Published 01/09/2022 >
Question:
Have an inherited landscaping trailer, single axle with H78-15LT. I sometimes get 5000lbs on the trailer. What tire replacement do I need? E load capacity, right? Also how old are my tires seems like these tire codes changed to the now P type cods in the 80s.

Your H78-15 LT tires work out to (roughly) match a 225/70-15 tire. With that said, the Kenda Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10303 looks to be a good replacement. This is a Load Range E tire (2,830 pounds at 80 psi), which is definitely recommend for the weight you are loading onto the trailer, and also has an M Speed Rating (81 mph).
As to the age of your tires, I cannot say. Typically the date code on a tire will be 4 numbers on the sidewall of said tire. The first two numbers indicate what week of the year it was made (out of 52 weeks per year), and the second two numbers represent the year. I included a picture of what I mean as well.
