Question:

I have a Slipstream watersport canoe that I want to use with the lift. The canoe is 29 inch wide at the top. Would I be able to put the canoe on the lift upside down? I also need to know how far off the roof the top surface of the lift not the top of the retainers will be including the cross bars to make sure I will be able to drive into my garage with the canoe on the roof. I am considering purchasing a Toyota Rav4 Prime Thanks

I have a solution for you to carry your canoe, but the Thule Hullavator Pro # TH898 is actually only designed to work with the shape of kayaks and cannot be used with a canoe.

With that being said, I recommend checking out the Lockrack Adjustable XL Watersport Carrier # LR54FR which uses clamps to secure the boat similar to how the Hullavator Pro secures the boat. This means that you don't need any extra straps to keep your canoe in place. The arms of this will sit 17" above the roof rack so that's the height you'll need to go by.

To add a load assist you can use the Rhino-Rack # RR-RUSL which will fit with the Lockrack and give you a way to prop one end of your canoe up and then lift it the rest of the way. Both this and the Lockrack will fit any crossbar system that you will have on a 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime.
